I installed PNY GeForce gt730 with 1024mb...and so far going strong for 48 hours burn in period. It's little louder than fanless gpu but I like the performance. I had to upgrade graphic card due to Windows 10 upgrade compatibility issue. Now I got dual booting setup 8.1 and 10.

I have found the GT730 to be a well performing and very reliable card for HTPC. It is ideal for 1080p but missing a few specs required for the latest 4K standards.
There are passive versions of the GT720 and GT730 which will fit in the VGX but you are probably better off will active cooling as the air flow is not good around the graphics card.

Any experience with geForce 750 ? I'm seriously thinking to remove the two tuner cards to install a dual slot geforce 750ti. Still have the original MB with X3230 as processor and 300 watt psu.

I believe the 750ti is the most power card anyone has successful installed in a vgx-xl without a ridiculous amount of modding. As I remember, is not the power supply or motherboard that causes any issue. Though the PSU would be running very near its max and this could shorten it's life I guess. The problem is that a 750ti is a dual card. I believe it is possible to fit the low profile version but you would have to lose some of the other cards. I will try to find the post from our member that fitted a 750ti because I don't remember all the details.

I will try to find the post from our member that fitted a 750ti because I don't remember all the details. I have found the original post in this thread, simply type 750 into the search bar. I attach a screen shot of the post. If your going to the trouble of making a dual slot card fit, you might want to consider the new RX460 which is a much newer card and has many desirable features for media centre use like HEVC support, HDMI2.0 and HDR ready... www.amd.com/en-gb/products/graphics/radeon-rx-series/radeon-rx-460Though we have no reports of anyone with a rx460 running on a vgx-xl, if it works you would have a more powerful and up to date graphics card than the 750ti for around the same price. Hope this helps Edit: Added link to Buckwheat's post about running a 750ti in his VGX-XL3... vgx-xl.proboards.com/post/1980/thread

Thanks Oliver, I should have search for it before writing :-) but at the least we have now a recap in this thread. That's fine mate, no problem. Can you leave us feedback here if you decide to try it, maybe even take a few photos? I'm sure many other have considered it but been put off thinking it might be challenging. A few picture with some feedback might help others in deciding if to buy a dual slot card or not. Cheers, Oliver Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk

As discussed in the Custom HTPC section, the RX 460 will not fit the VGX as it is a full height card (just repeating here so people don't get the wrong idea). AMD has now released the RX 550, but low profile versions of this are double width. I think current AMD cards are just to hot for a single slot, low profile solution. However, Nvidia have now released the GT 1030 which is based on their latest Pascal architecture. It has all the features required for a modern HTPC; 4K, 8K, HEVC, HDR, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, HDCP 2.2 and runs with a TDP of less than 30W. 3D gaming performance is about the same as the RX 550 and GTX 750 Ti. It is priced around £/$70. So far I have seen one card from Inno3D which is low profile, single slot and passive. However, I know there is a large capacitor on the VGX motherboard which can sometimes cause a problem with full length heat sinks ( see here). It might be possible to gently reposition the capacitor, or failing that, cut a small section out of the heatsink. www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=298Alternatively, there are quite a few models which have a small fan which should fit without any issue. I like the look of this MSI one which has both HDMI and DisplayPort connections which are much more useful than having legacy DVI or VGA. Board components are also rated to run for 10 years on full load. www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GT-1030-2G-LP-OC.html#hero-overview

Can anyone recommend a modern card (At least 1080P, 3d capable) that will fit with the capture and tuner cards installed? Will the MSI gt1030 fit with the other cards installed? I think I have a failing video card in an old VGX I just picked up.

I don't think anyone has actually tried, but the MSI 1030 I linked should fit OK. To be safe, buy it from somewhere like Amazon which has an easy returns policy.
The 1030 is a great option for standard HTPC duties (including 3D and 4K video content), but it is not really powerful enough for 3D gaming, except for some of the less demanding games.

Thanks for the help and I will look into that card once I do my VGX build. I actually had a RADEON HD 6450 in a server so I pulled it out and stuck it in my VGX. It works pretty good but I can't get AMD driver detection to download catalyst control center. I need CCC to change my scaling values and fit the PCs image to fullscreen
