Hi Gaz, I know a few members had been looking out for faulty PSUs so they can work on an after market PSU upgrade project. Since the new BIOS, the PSU is now limiting the CPU upgrade possibilities in the (ASUStek "NIACIN" P5BW-MB motherboards) at least, making this a worthy project. This would have been an excellent cause to donate it to, but I'm not sure if anyone is still working on the project? I would be more than willing to help out with a PSU upgrade project, as they will become a limiting step as time goes on.

Has anyone else had any issues with the sound clicking and cracking after upgrading to Windows 7 ?
It causes VLC to crash constantly, I might end up having to go back to Windows XP if I cant resolve it.
Tried updating the drivers and that just killed the sound completely.
Thanks
Gaz

I don't have any problems with my sound except it being a little choppy whilst windows is starting up but I guess this is normal as the sound fine once windows finishes starting up. I have a new graphics card that handles the sound differently to the original cards, most of us have updated our graphics cards so that could be your problem, however that maybe doesn't explain why you have this issue with Win7 and not WinXP. Let's wait to hear what others advice

Has anyone made any progress updating the PSU yet?

Thanks Troll
I have installed 64bit Windows to try and maximise the 4Gb RAM installed (its still only seeing 2.75Gb useable of the 4), but I just realised that all my drivers are 32 bit - is there a 64bit driver repository anywhere ?

Sony never released 64-bit drivers. I don't think there is an alternative for the original tuner or sound card. So you either need to reinstall a 32-bit O/S or swap these components for alternative hardware with 64-bit drivers. Also the software components required for the Eject button are 32-bit only. sites.google.com/site/vaioxlgroup/tutorials/eject-button-volume-keys-fix
