ok thanks Oliver.... I cant find it now.. but i noticed a mention of pentium D 945 dual cores in another thread.. which are 95 watt so ill go with that it also has a fsb of 800 I didn't catch it but looks like the xeon and quad core range is pointed at the P5BW-MB board, - XL203 and above... tempted to post ebay links

Little outdated, but anyway... To have clear situation, Xeon processors for LGA775 have their equivalent ones in Core2Quad series. If you compare two series but only models with one core codename, e.g. "Kentsfield", you will see that Xeons and Core2Quads are exactly the same. Q6400 = X3210, Q6600 = X3220, Q6700 = X3230. And, of course, as Oliver wrote, there are different versions of Q6600/X3220 so be careful to choose G0 stepping or just choose Q6700/X3230 - they are really cheap on eBay or AliExpress - ~$20 is not a big deal I think.
