The first layer of dust is off this baby and I am amazed. It's not at all like I remember it. Just about everything seems to be working !!! A few years ago, after what I recall as a constant tinker and a struggle, I sort of retired my XL2A to the closet. I'd been through XP, then Vista, then Win 7, and even took a shot at WIN 8.0. Sure stuff worked but more often then not, there was always something not quite right going on. Back in November, I treated myself to a new television and slowly but surely I've been bring up the network based media center that I've always wanted (I have the most amazing Laser Disc collection - that's how far back I go !) - any how, "the struggle continues" Only this time it just feels different. I stumbled on to VGX-XL/forum/pedia here and that has really got me going. Last night, after a thousand and one MS Updates, she's up and running WIN8.1 and almost everything's working (still have to look at the Tuner hardware but that's not really important to me anyway). I've got memory and a newer CPU on order for cheap and my twin VGP-XL1B's are once again growling and groaning away and scarring the s#!+ out of my dogs just like before . The sound works (via HDMI), the Media Center works, the Meta-data works, the XL2 boots up without a hang ! Even before any planned upgrades, so far I'm pretty please with this baby's performance. Amazing, just amazing ! And Thanks all for this resource - just amazing
