OK , I've gone and done it now And here are my results (FYI): So basically I picked up (as an overall composite score) 1.7% that's essentially attributable to the CPU upgrade (from the original Pentium D 2.8Ghz to the D SL9QQ 3.4Ghz). I acquired the processor for $6 bucks US on Ebay. I can't find a benchmark for this machine prior to my memory and graphics card upgrades for a better before/after comparison, but everything I've done so has cost me very little and so I'd say it's been worthwhile. I think the best CPU MrBigBios allows for with this original P5LP motherboard is the Pentium D 960 3.60 GHz 'SL9K7'. That CPU will likely run you upwards of $70 used and at that price, I don't think it would be worthwhile. Attachments:

Hi Gee, Thanks for sharing your updated stats. Its great that others can see the benefits of upgrading CPU and BIOS. At that price for parts, its an easy choice. Glad it all went smoothly, upgrading can become addictive though
