Hi I just bought one yesterday, and am very impressed with it, but it appears my keyboards 5 & 7 buttons not working, also the wifi antenna was missing, does anyone know of a suitable replacement part or repair for the keyboard?
Many thanks Jamie

I have a fully working original keyboard but prefer my Logitech k400, they are very good reasonably cheap and available in black or white. As for your original keyboard, you could try using some compressed air on it. If that doesn't work you could take it apart and try to fix it, but I took an original keyboard apart with a similar problem (after my wife spilt a glass of water on it) and the buttons still don't work

Read this forum.vgx-xl.com/thread/147/official-sony-vaio-service-manualsit has the Antenna Unit in it, also has the part no 1-754-463-11 for the XL3, but be careful when fitting or removing as i think thread on connector un dose clockwise and dose up anticlockwise. (Broke mine off card, luckily had some superglue handy ) if you cant get original, any ones for wireless to PC cards should work but check out that connector. Also get a more expensive one that boosts signal, i got a cheap one on a PC card and its not very good. Any wireless keyboard and mouse should work, I'm using a cheap Microsoft one at the moment. Microsoft wireless keyboard 800 about £20 quid from Argos but looks real good with the VAIO (All Black and a reasonable size). Haven't tried repairing a keyboard for a few years (they are so cheap to buy) but try Oliver's suggestion of compressed air cans for computers they also do one that has Solvent in it ( Solvent Cleaner for computer Mechanisms) in a spray can you could try that (Sticky Coca Cola residue). you can also just buy the actual keys for a lot of boards but they are a bit fidley to fit. you may need to take top off to clean the board surface with the solvent spray if it don't work. also hold it upside down and use a paintbrush to clean out debris, maybe a vacuum cleaner. and a little bit of light tapping on back (Like burping a baby ) Derek Edit : if you are Rich you can buy from here www.impactcomputers.com/1-479-423-21.html?path=1013_1938_6653OMG you got to be joking was my reaction. My keyboard and mouse £20 quid, that one $390 dollars Antena = $96 dollars www.impactcomputers.com/1-754-463-11.html?sort=pd.name&order=ASC&page=53&limit=50&manufacturer_id=143Best get your repair tools out i think lol or look for 2nd hand ones on Ebay Or make your own www.hackthissite.org/articles/read/1129You may also need to do this to the sony-vaio-service-manuals so you can copy serial Nos for parts etc ect as they are locked in pdf reader from copying www.wikihow.com/Unlock-a-Secure-PDF-FileUse Method 6 of 11: Microsoft XPS Viewer (worked for me)

sony vgx xl302 Hi all, new to your forum.
I have a vgx xl302 it has run fine since I bought it, well except for the grphics card being in need of replacement.
I recently dropped a q6700 in, bad move, bsod's of all sorts including memory management, irq not equal, bad pool header & others.
Tried to do a fresh install, with 7 8.1 neither of which would go through properly Put original processor back in, all hunky dory. I updated bios to mr big before the change. Does any one have any ideas???
