Hi!
I hope one of you can help, I have the entire system, but am just using the CD-changer. My problem is that I have lost the CD which has all the changer software. I have only found "updates" to the CD. If anyone can point me to a site which has it, or if you have it, it would be of great help.
feel free to contact me at

THANKS

Hi Jamie, Welcome to the forum Unfortunatly I don't know much about the CD changers, I'm based in the UK and we never got them here, however we do have a lot of members with CD changers and the software is something we would like to provide on this site. If anyone has any software for the CD changers please upload it and prove me Oliver with a link so we can share with the community. We do however have the official Sony Service Engineers manual for the CD changer which may be useful to you? Oliver

I have a couple of the discs sitting around. If you would like Oliver I can dump an ISO sometime this weekend to add it with the other discs.

That would be great sinfulThe CD changers seem pretty popular, so I'm sure the software will come in useful. Many Thanks, Oliver

Many thanks for this. Is it a newer version than vgx-xl.proboards.com/thread/208/vgp-xl1b-changer-software? Also i know xl1b3 was for Vista. Was that disc vista-only or also compatible with xp mce 2005? I just finished installing mce2005 on an old Dell Precision m4300 firewire laptop, and want to ensure I do not mess this up by installing the wrong XL1B CD. Thanks.

I've never had a VGP-XLBx they wasn't released in the UK. Our excellent member sinful uploaded the disc. He still occasionally checks in here, so maybe he'll be able to help? The new link is the same disc, for some reason the link changed, maybe when I changed the downloads folder from members only to public? The new link simply leads to the same page as the old did. We have a lot of information on this forum about the XLB range, including the official Sony engineer breakdown guide. Hopefully you'll be able to find out if this software is suitable for your exact machine. If you do decide to install the software, please leave your feedback for others.

Yes I installed it last night on xp sp3 mce2005. Went perfectly. Thanks again for keeping this link up to date for the unlikely folks like myself who get an XL1B for the first time almost in 2020.
Is B107 the latest firmware for the drive itself? Mine came with B100 but I found B107 on station-drivers. And for the mechanism i found fw 0.08 but it did not apply likely because I already have that firmware. If anyone reading this has later firmwares, please reply.
Now, i am wondering how to clear the xl1b memory. According to the mediachanger command line tool, it thinks slots 0-71 are occupied even though the machine is empty. I hope there is a way that does not involve removing the battery from the main board. Tonight, i am just going to let it scan the whole machine with a few discs in it, hopefully that will fix the phantom discs. This machine does not seem to employ sensors to detect which slots are occupied.
