Hi all, I followed the VGX-XL fix eject button tutorial, but it has not worked. I have not had the eject button working since upgrading to Windows10, I have just reinstalled Win10 and was hoping to get everything working perfectly before selling. I have a VGX-XL301 running a freshly installed Windows 10 32bit, I installed the following drivers in this order... Utils Installer 1 SonyUtils DLL Utils Installer 2 Sony Shared Library Utils Installer Sony Video Shared Library Utils Installer VAIO Control Center Utils Installer VAIO Event Service Utils VAIO Action Setup My original keyboard volume and special function buttons worked after installing the divers but unfortunately still no working eject button, so I tried installing shared library again as I read this sometimes needs installing twice, still no eject button. Has Windows 10 ended all hope of a software fix or has anyone managed to get the eject button working on Win10? As a workaround I installed a small program call WinEject and it works great, just click the desktop icon, I also set the S1 button on the original keyboard to auto start the WinEject programme and this also works great. Is the loss of the eject button the price we pay for the latest and greatest Microsoft has to offer or can it still be returned to its former ejecting glory? Please share your own experiences below

For me, Windows 7 was the best operating system for the VGX-XL. I never got the eject button to work under Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10 despite trying countless combinations of the software and the driver.
The eject button is an area where Sony really dropped the ball, there is no need for an eject button to require that level of software support. When I was still planning on using my VGX-XL I did briefly start investigating writing a replacement to perhaps cover x64 and Windows 8/8.1/10 support but it never got off the ground before I sold.
As far as selling goes... When it came time to sell I fully factory restored my VGX-XL right down to the BIOS, hardware (I think I left 4GB ram installed for Vista's sake.) and OS. I did this because I was planning on selling via eBay and some eBay buyers seem to look for an excuse to complain these days. A heavily modified OEM system was a too much of a target if I had the bad luck to get a bad buyer, so I just went the factory restored route. I was a little surprised at the final price, it sold for £237 plus postage which was more than I was expecting at the time as I had seen previous sales stall at around the £100 mark for standard and upgraded systems.

I stuck with Windows 7 for my sale because everything works with that and it includes Media Center which some buyers might be expecting.

I have win 7 on my Vgx-xl301 but I can not get the card reader get to work. How do I solve the problem with the eject button? Is there a fix nowadays? Have someone here a install CD for oll the drivers for Win 7 for my Vgx-xl301? Since we are a big community, how come there are no solutions like one disk, one click install all current drivers for Windows 7

I also lost eject button function when I installed windows 10. All I did was put a linked icon on my desktop to the disc drive. Click on icon and select eject disc from drop down menu. Easy solution which means you can eject disc from comfort of sofa and retrieve it later.

If so all these things should work fine. sites.google.com/site/vaioxlgroup/tutorials/eject-button-volume-keys-fixHowever, if you are running 64-bit then you are out of luck. There are no 64-bit drivers / Sony utilities.
