GT 1030 cards are now available to order in a variety of sizes and cooling options and run with a TDP of just 30W! 3D gaming performance is about the same as the RX 550 and GTX 750 Ti. It is priced around £/$70. So far I have seen one card from Inno3D which is low profile, single slot and passive. However, I know there is a large capacitor on the VGX motherboard which can sometimes cause a problem with full length heat sinks ( see here). It might be possible to gently reposition the capacitor, or failing that, cut a small section out of the heatsink. www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=298Alternatively, there are quite a few models which have a small fan which should fit without any issue. I like the look of this MSI one which has both HDMI and DisplayPort connections which are much more useful than having legacy DVI or VGA. Board components are also rated to run for 10 years on full load. www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GT-1030-2G-LP-OC.html#hero-overviewIn fact I have now fitted the passive version of this in my custom HTPC (double width so won't fit a VGX). www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GT-1030-2GH-LP-OC.html#hero-overview

Great news has anyone installed any of these in a VGX yet? Which one/ Did you have any problems fitting it? It has been very quiet around here for quite some time. I think many VGX owners have either moved on, or are no longer upgrading their systems. The Inno3D one I mentioned is actually a 1.5 slot design. It still might squeeze in but the heatsink may need modifying because of that capacitor (something I have resorted to in the past).
