Ok so my original XL100 is creaking a bit, I originally installed W7 probably nearly 10 years ago . Since then I have upgraded the BIOS/CPU/HDD/TV Tuner Cards/Graphics Card/Fans etc but still kept with the W7 install. I have also installed/uninstalled numerous software. Unsurprisingly, things are slowing down considerably. Recently my Graphics card packed-in again, so I slotted-in an old one I had & I just could not get the driver to install properly. There was a change of Satellite transponders for a few TV channels that now just won't display, despite them being picked-up on a scan. So I've come to the conclusion that a clean W7 reinstall is required. I However I note that on the VGX-XL link to the Sony website, they have taken down all the drivers, with the notice below: - Notice on the withdrawal of drivers and software for Windows® Vista and older unsupported operating systems - December 1st 2017
I can't seem to find the original VGX-XL100 driver downloads from my initial W7 install. TBH- there was a lot of "bloatware" in the Sony downloads that were really not required, but I would have installed these just to get the DVD Eject button working. So is there another source? If not, what essentials will I miss if I install NO Sony drivers: - DVD eject button (a shame but not essential)
- Sigmatel Audio driver (no rear panel audio except through Graphics card HDMI?)
- Anything else that could severely compromise a W7 reinstall?

I've went Windows 10 before I sold my vgx xl, there's no software fix for the eject button on Windows 10. I downloaded a virtual eject button for my desk top, is not a great solution, but better than nothing.
If your good with a soldering iron, you could always hardwire the eject button,

I've went Windows 10 before I sold my vgx xl Thanks Oliver, TBH I could probably live without the Eject button. Were you able to get audio out via the rear panel (i.e. spdif/rca) when you upgraded to W10 or did you just use HDMI for audio? I see lothlorian seems to be having this issue & cannot find the Sigmatel Audio driver online. This could be a deal breaker

I have a spdis cable from my TV to a sound bar, all sound that passed through the TV automatically goes through my sound bar.

We had a member who downloaded to a disk all the drivers needed (and in the correct order), just incase they need to reset their vgx xl. I can't remember what model, or who the member was, but it's possible someone will have the drivers needed and will share them here 🤞

Hello Wheeker! i would like to ask you.....When you upgrade to W7, your SPDIF stop working too? At any time, have you downloaded a driver to make it work again?. You know, as nobody answered me this question , i was thinking about a faulty motherboard. If you could answer me, it will bring some light to me. By the way, i dont have SPDIF but i do have RCA audio out in stereo. Best regards!
