I am trying to restore my VGX-XL2a with 200-disc changer for donation. I used the two ISOs from the forum, and they worked great. However after installing several updates, the machine booted up with Media Center with no mouse pointer. Neither the keyboard nor the trackpad worked (original VAIO keyboard). I know they work because I can check BIOS and launch into XP Safe Mode. The keyboard/mouse didn't work in Safe Mode either.
So I decided to re-restore the machine without some of the updates. The machine boots with the discs into recovery mode, starts Step 1, reboots, and then requests Recovery DVD 1. I re-insert the disc, and it pops out and asks for Recovery DVD again. Hmmmm ... why did this work the first time and not now?
Any suggestions before taking both parts to the local e-waste site?

Hello westielove,
Have you received any replies with assistance, or have you already recycled your units?
Sorry for the slow response. This site has become pretty 'sleepy', given that most VGX-XL* owners have long ago moved on.
